Tokyo was mad. So busy, so noisy, so over-stimulating. I had to get away a few days, so travelled with a friend to Lake Kawaguchiko. I stayed in a traditional ryokan, bathed in a steaming onsen, tried eating nattō (look it up), and fell for distant Mount Fuji.
One day, on a bike ride around the lake, I came across a statue. Its plaque intrigued me, and inspired this story I wrote that evening. Might the story inspire you?
