For my Family Matters poem, I reflected on feeling my dad’s presence soon after he died. As a writer still awaiting the poet’s calling, I drafted in free verse. My editor challenged me to bring meter and rhyme to the piece. I’m pleased he did.
I enjoy how writing can be chameleon. Often, something you create in one form goes on to work better in another. You just don’t know until you try.
